Intensive Outpatient Program

OUTPATIENT ADDICTION TREATMENT THAT WORKS

the Sophros Recovery logo in teal

a woman has a new sense of hope after completing an intensive outpatient program for addiction As addiction treatment ends and daily life resumes, it’s normal to feel like things don’t feel the same. New challenges arise, and without the quick escape of drugs or alcohol, they can be overwhelming. With the support of addiction treatment professionals in an intensive outpatient program (IOP), you can remain in control and minimize the chance of relapse. The IOP at Sophros Recovery is designed with our clients in mind, providing flexible support for busy situations.

We offer our four-step approach to addiction treatment at a level of care that’s accessible for those returning to their normal work, school, and family obligations. With evidence-based therapy, case management, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) as needed, and case management, you can continue the path to a better future. Call 813.686.6306 to start one of our addiction treatment programs now.

Understanding an Intensive Outpatient Program for Addiction

As you make progress in recovery, your needs change. In the beginning, you might need the 24/7 support of a detox and residential treatment center. After you finish treatment there, however, it can be difficult to resume life on your own. Sophros Recovery’s IOP helps bridge the gap from residential treatment to independent recovery with our four-step approach.

  • Therapy – Individual and group counseling sessions bring clients and their peers together with professional therapists to work on self-development and new coping skills
  • Medication-assisted treatment – MAT is a helpful resource for many in early recovery as they manage withdrawal, but it is not viable for all of our clients
  • Case management – We help coordinate resources and provide education about finances, job seeking, and other areas of personal development
  • Alumni support – Our support continues after treatment through alumni events and support group meetings

Comprehensive care is an option for you, even if you feel you don’t have time for it. If you are medically stable, have a safe living environment, and are committed to your recovery, we can help.

Partial hospitalization vs. intensive outpatient treatment

The biggest difference in the partial hospitalization vs. intensive outpatient comparison comes down to the level of intensity and time commitment. PHP is more immersive and closely monitored, while IOP gives you more freedom and responsibility as you build on the progress you’ve already made.

Partial hospitalization programs (PHP) are often considered the highest level of outpatient care. If you choose PHP, you can expect to spend most of your day in structured treatment, typically five to six hours, five days a week. It’s a great option if you need intensive support but don’t require 24/7 supervision in a residential setting. PHP can serve as a step-down from inpatient rehab or as a direct entry point if your situation is severe but stable enough to be managed without overnight care.

On the other hand, IOPs offer a more flexible schedule, with sessions typically lasting three to four hours a day, three to five days a week. IOP may be the right fit if you’ve already completed a higher level of care or if your addiction is moderate, and you have a strong support system at home. IOP allows you to continue working, attending school, or managing family responsibilities while still receiving structured, evidence-based treatment.

Choosing between PHP vs. IOP depends on your specific needs, goals, and where you are in your recovery process. No matter which level of care you start with, the most important step is that you’re taking action toward healing, and that’s something to be proud of.

Our Intensive Outpatient Treatment Center in Tampa

The team at Sophros knows how critical it is to continue rebuilding your life after residential treatment. We offer flexible options to keep you in touch with a team of addiction treatment professionals as you begin to resume your daily obligations.

Virtual Therapy Options

There is no replacement for in-person, one-on-one counseling, but we know life happens. Our therapists are equipped to make virtual IOP sessions possible when you can’t make it into our welcoming center.

Evening IOP Scheduling

For so many individuals, a nine-to-five schedule makes it impossible to get to appointments or commitments regularly. We offer evening IOP scheduling so that our clients who don’t have time during the day can still get the support they need.

Paying with Insurance

At Sophros Recovery, we believe that cost should never be a barrier to recovery. In addition to working with our clients to build affordable, convenient payment plans, many addiction treatment services are covered by major healthcare providers. • Cigna
  • Aetna
  • Florida Blue (BCBS)
  • Optum

  • Bright Health
