Medication-Assisted Treatment

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) combines medication with therapy to provide an effective solution for addiction recovery. This approach offers numerous benefits, including reducing cravings, managing withdrawal symptoms, and enhancing overall treatment outcomes. MAT is one of the cornerstones of the addiction treatment program at Sophros Recovery Tampa.

When paired with case management, evidence-based therapy, and alumni support, our clients continue their recovery journey with comprehensive and individualized care. We know that MAT may not be right for everyone, however, so we conduct thorough assessments before recommending any medications. Call 813.592.7053 to get started.

Medication Can Support the Recovery Journey

Prescription medications can provide tremendous relief in the early stages of recovery. Even after the detox and inpatient treatment phases, clients in outpatient programs like Sophros Recovery can benefit from medications designed to:

  • Reduce cravings and the desire to use harmful substances
  • Manage physical or emotional withdrawal symptoms, such as anxiety or depression
  • Prevent relapse by blocking the effects of certain drugs

With medication-assisted treatment, our clients can focus on their therapy without experiencing intense cravings or discomfort. We utilize FDA-approved medications like Vivitrol treatment (naltrexone) and Suboxone (a combination drug of buprenorphine and naloxone) for clients who can benefit from it and have a lower risk of secondary addiction.

Sophros Recovery Is Not a Primary MAT Center

As helpful as MAt can be, it cannot serve as the sole treatment method for addiction recovery. At Sophros Recovery, we utilize MAT as part of an integrated approach to address all aspects of addiction and promote lasting healing. Our team understands that every individual’s journey is unique, and our program is tailored to meet each person’s specific needs.

Substance abuse deeply affects an individual’s physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental health. That’s why we provide a holistic approach to treatment that includes MAT, therapy, and support services. Our goal is to empower our clients to take control of their recovery journey and achieve sustainable sobriety.

Our Medication-Assisted Treatment Program

The Sophros Recovery model is based on four primary cornerstones: appropriate medication-assisted treatment, group and individual therapy, case management services, and alumni and aftercare support.

Appropriate Medication-Assisted Treatment

Before prescribing any medications, our team conducts thorough assessments to determine if MAT is the right choice for each client. We consider factors such as medical history, substance abuse patterns, and potential risks and benefits of medication use. Our goal is to ensure that our clients receive individualized care that supports their unique recovery journey.

Group and Individual Therapy

Therapy is a crucial component of our program at Sophros Recovery. Our licensed therapists use evidence-based techniques to help clients understand the root causes of their addiction and develop healthy coping mechanisms. Group therapy, in particular, provides a supportive and understanding environment for clients to share their experiences and learn from others.

Case Management Services

We understand that recovery does not only rely on treatment. That’s why we offer case management services to help our clients navigate life after rehab and connect them with necessary resources for ongoing support. Our team also works closely with loved ones, providing family therapy and education to promote healing within the support system.

Alumni and Aftercare Support

Our commitment to our clients does not end when they complete their treatment program. We provide ongoing support through our alumni program, which allows clients to stay connected with each other and access additional resources. We also offer aftercare services to help our clients transition back into their daily lives with the tools and support they need for long-term recovery.

The Sophros Recovery Tampa team provides compassionate, flexible support in our day or night treatment, intensive outpatient, and evening intensive outpatient programs. We also offer outpatient support for clients who complete a higher level of care.
